One of the changes that have come from DC Comics' Infinite Frontier initiative is a lineup shift for the Justice League of America. Superman, Batman, and Aquaman are joined by new members Naomi and Black Adam. Also returning are several legacy characters.

One of these is Green Arrow. A member of Amanda Waller's Justice League incarnations during the New 52 era, Ollie hasn't been part of the main team since before Flashpoint. Now, he returns as a perfect fit for the League. Still, there are reasons why he has never been a great fit.

10 Green Arrow Fits Because He Stands Up To The Superhumans

Chalk this one up to legendary writer Denny O'Neil. When he added Green Arrow into Green Lantern's title in 1970, the scribe didn't bring in the carefree billionaire-turned-hero of the Golden and Silver Ages. Instead, O'Neil endowed him with the passion and anger of many young readers.

Readers who were disenfranchised with superheroes as a whole. O'Neil took those feelings and added them to Arrow's personality. As early as the first issue with both heroes, Ollie lambasted Hal over his fascist-like role in the universe. It's something he would continue to do in the pages ofJustice League of America.

9 Green Arrow Doesn't Fit Because He Always Complains About Being In The League

Every time Arrow decides to return to the League it seems like he has a bone to pick with its operations. Take his change of heart in issue 201 of the originalJustice League comic. After helping defeat the aliens that originally helped form the JLA, Ollie decides to become a full-time member once again.

One month later, in an issue by the writer/artist team of Gerry Conway and Don Heck, Arrow starts complaining about the League's makeup. He has ideas on how to make it less superhuman and more human. It's something that probably drove the Trinity insane.

8 Green Arrow Fits Because He's a True Street-Level Hero

Sure, Batman is a street-level hero. However, he pals around with Superman and Wonder Woman more than the other ground-pounders out there. Plus, all of his technology and enhanced abilities don't put him at the same level.

Ollie isn't like that. No matter the circumstances he's there for those who can't help themselves. Even if it means becoming mayor of his home city. Batman, on the other hand, tends to help others so he can get to the criminals.

7 Green Arrow Doesn't Fit Because He's Too Preachy

This issue can also be directed to Denny O'Neil's version of the hero. Before he joined Green Lantern on various moral adventures, Ollie was a clean-shaven swashbuckler with a cave, a cool car, and a bunch of trick arrows. he was the light version of Batman. Something that was resurrected in the Cartoon Network'sBatman: The Brave and the Bold.

Once O'Neil got to him, Green Arrow became an emerald preacher. He told everyone how it should be according to what he saw. It didn't matter if he was lecturing Hawkman or Superman, Ollie's goal was to take them down a peg or two.

6 Green Arrow Fits Because He's Part Of the "I Was Dead" Crowd

With the introduction of the Infinite Frontier, it seems that every incarnation of the population's heroes exists. This means they all remember the times they died. This includes Green Arrow's sacrifice to save Metropolis from environmental terrorists in his early-1990s comic.

Thus, he knows what it means to be a true hero. Save for Lantern, who was infected, the other heroes who perished did so saving someone else. When he was resurrected, Arrow realized what it meant to risk death in the League for the safety of others.

5 Green Arrow Doesn't Fit Because He Wasn't Changed By His Death

This needs some clarification. Though Ollie made some changes to his life after he was resurrected, there was still plenty of obnoxiousness to go around. He was just as stubborn and preachy when he returned to the physical plane as he was before his sacrifice.

Though other members of the superhero community were grateful for his return, they weren't too happy to see him come back as himself. Yes, he apologized for some of his previous antics. However, there was still plenty of fight in him. Enough to be a pain when he decided to join the team in times of emergency.

4 Green Arrow Fits Because He (Mostly) Knows His Limits

Green Arrow is bluster for the most part. He knows he has skills and can work toe-to-toe with those more powerful than him in the League. However, he also realizes when he needs help.

For instance, inGreen Arrow/Black Canary#4, Ollie tries to help his severely injured son, Connor. Without second-guessing himself he screams for Superman to come to help. It's not a moment of weakness. Rather, it's one of acceptance. So, if a JLA member or leader asks him to do something, he tends not to argue ... much.

3 Green Arrow Doesn't Fit Because He Tends To Disappear

Sure, Batman isn't always available when the League asks for his help. Nevertheless, he tends to be an omnipresent figure who can be counted on when things go south. Conversely, Green Arrow seemingly disappears off of the map for long periods. Especially when he feels the League has moved in the wrong direction.

Case in point, his time in Seattle during the late 1980s. It's a moment where he decided to focus more on street-level situations than those of a metahuman or mystical nature. In fact, he became more of a vigilante during this period. As a result, he didn't participate in League activities for years.

2 Green Arrow Fits Because He Has A Legacy With The League

While Green Arrow isn't an original member of the Justice League he comes awful close. He became their first new member in early 1961. Specifically, four issues into the series' run.

He remained a critical player with the team for the rest of the 1960s and most of the 1970s. Furthermore, he has joined the League on-and-off since then. Honestly, the JLA might not have become the powerhouse it did without Arrow's assistance.

1 Green Arrow Doesn't Fit Because He Sometimes Skirts The Line

There was a time in Green Arrow's life with the League that he believed in a clear right and wrong. However, as his attitude shifted, he realized there's a lot more grey out there to deal with. In turn, he has skirted the line between good and slightly chaotic throughout the Modern Age of comics.

If Superman had found out about Ollie's actions inThe Longbow Huntershe would've been disappointed. If he knew (though he probably did) about Arrow's involvement in wiping Doctor Light's memory, he would've been booted out of the League. Overall, Ollie takes the JLA's mission statement about truth and justice and twists it for his own means.
